Ped-9: student written introduction

This is a sample of student work completed at the beginning of the term which serves as a tool for the student to introduce themselves to me privately. Spring 2020, EPSRemote.

1. What are you excited about for this class?

I’m excited for being with my friends in a class that I really love and making memories. I keep taking this class because it’s so fun and we always choose the best songs and it’s always a fun show at the end of the trimester.

2. What are you nervous about for this class?

I’m nervous about the online program and how it might set us back so much that our show won’t be as great as usual. I’m also nervous about how we’re going to make all of this work.

3. Please describe any previous music education you have participated in (instrument, number of years, private or group or class lessons)

I have taken choir the past two years, this will be my third time, I’ve been playing music since I was young, I take singing classes every Tuesday, and I’m planning on taking up guitar.

4. If you could learn anything during this course that related to the voice and music, what would you want to learn? (genre, artist, how the voice works, time period, music theory… etc)

I would like to learn about more genres of music and artists that work in the different genres. I’d like to have a larger understanding of all different kinds of music.

5. What else do you want me to know about you?

I don’t like doing solos, but if we have to then I would be fine in a trio or something.

6. What questions do you have for me?

Is our show still going to happen, and is a month and a half enough for us to learn the songs?
