Cultivating positive relationships with a community is what makes elective programs possible and successful. It is at the heart of how I understand a choral music program to function within a school. The students and I work to build community within the classroom and then extend that community to their peers and adults of the EPS, and at times a broader community as well. In the first section of Community Membership and Support I detail ways in which music is leveraged to create and support relationships in and out of the classroom. The second section of Collegial Dynamics highlights the many reasons I am thankful to be a part of this community, for the dynamic adult community who thoughtfully engage in making the world a better place, and who work hard, and perhaps play harder.
